Eric Dupont

Chief Development Officer at PowerSecure

Eric Dupont serves as the chief development officer of PowerSecure, and oversees the development of an inclusive strategic plan for PowerSecure growth. Dupont leads strategic partnerships and joint ventures that support PowerSecure’s growth objectives; project investments, commercial contracting, and deal structuring initiatives, as well as serving in an external leadership capacity with numerous industry trade and market associations.

Dupont is a 21 year veteran of the utility and energy services space with extensive experience in accounting, financial planning, mergers & acquisitions, structured finance and commercial contracting. During his career, he has been responsible for the development, structuring and/or funding for over $1.5 billion in energy projects.

Dupont joined PowerSecure in 2013 as Vice President of Finance and was promoted in 2014 to Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer, Treasurer and Secretary for the business until 2017, when he assumed his current position. He successfully led the sale of PowerSecure to Southern Company in 2016.

Prior to PowerSecure, Dupont served as President of Lime Energy Asset Development, a company that engineers, designs, manages, owns and operates small power generation projects (2010-2013). Before joining Lime Energy, he was Chief Financial Officer for a design build energy services company and responsible for all aspects of financial reporting, treasury, planning and strategy (2004-2010). Eric began his energy career in corporate development, and led the Structured Finance group for Ameresco energy services (2001-2004) and Duke Energy’s energy service division (1998-2001).

Eric holds a BSBA in Accounting from Appalachian State University and a Masters of Tax from Denver University. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for Research Triangle Clean Tech Cluster, of which PowerSecure is a founding member.
