Annia Aleman currently serves as a member of the Invest PGH Loan Review Committee at the Urban Redevelopment Authority of Pittsburgh since January 2024 and as Innovation Director at AscenderPGH since December 2019. Previously, Annia was an NLC Fellow with the New Leaders Council from January to June 2020, focusing on progressive Millennial thought leadership. From January 2016 to November 2019, Annia held multiple roles at the City of Pittsburgh's Innovation & Performance department, culminating as Senior Civic Innovation Specialist, managing the PGH Lab which facilitates collaboration between local startups and city authorities. Earlier experiences include an internship with the United Nations Development Programme, where Annia conducted research on governance indicators and indigenous rights in South America. Annia's educational background includes a Master's in Public Policy & Management from Carnegie Mellon University, an Executive Leadership Academy credential from the same institution, and a Bachelor's in Global Policy Studies from Chatham University, along with Development Studies coursework at the University of the Gambia.
