Joseph P. Bergstein, Jr. is executive vice president and chief financial officer of PPL Corporation, one of the largest investor-owned utilities in the United States.
With more than two decades of experience in the utility industry, Bergstein oversees PPL’s investor relations, treasury, financial planning and analysis, tax, risk management, controllership and strategic development functions.
Bergstein served as senior vice president and chief financial officer from June 2019 to April 2021. Prior to that, he served as PPL Corporation’s vice president-Investor Relations and Corporate Development & Planning. In this role, he led PPL’s Investor Relations program, provided leadership to strategic initiatives and spearheaded corporate budgeting and financial planning activities, including the development of the company’s multi-year business plan.
Bergstein also served as treasurer from 2016 to 2018, leading the company’s financing and investing activities, including capital market transactions and mitigation of interest rate and foreign currency risk.
Since joining PPL in 1999, Bergstein led PPL’s investor relations efforts during two of the largest cash acquisitions in the U. S. utility sector, as well as during the spinoff of PPL’s competitive energy business. Prior to joining PPL, he worked at Amerigas Partners, L.P.
Bergstein is a native of the Allentown area and earned a bachelor’s degree in business management from Bloomsburg University.
He serves on the board of trustees and as treasurer of ArtsQuest in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, and on the investment subcommittee of Good Shepherd Rehabilitation in Allentown, Pennsylvania. He is also on the board of the PPL Foundation, which contributes millions each year to improve the lives of people in the communities PPL serves.
