Carissa Rae has work experience with multiple companies in various roles. Carissa started their career at RESPONSE in 2004 as an Operations Manager and worked there until 2010. In 2010, they joined beCogent Ltd as a Senior Operations Manager and stayed until 2011. Carissa then joined PRA Group, where they held several positions including Operations Manager, Client Relationship Manager, Head of Customer Solutions, and currently serves as the Head of UK Core Operations, starting in March 2021.

Carissa Rae attended Bearsden Academy from 1997 to 2002. Carissa then studied at the University of Glasgow from 2002 to 2003, although they did not obtain a degree in Accountancy. From 2007 to 2011, Carissa earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business and Management from Glasgow Caledonian University. In terms of additional certifications, Carissa obtained various qualifications, including a Proofreading and Editing diploma from the College of Media and Publishing in 2023, a Level 3 Award for the Debt Collection Industry from the NOCN Group in 2015, and a Level 3 Award in First Line Management from ILM in 2008. Carissa also received certifications in Excel 2003 Level 2 from Interquad Learning and SVQ Customer Services Level 3 from the Scottish Qualifications Authority in 2006.
