Dr. Simeen M. Akhtar has over 30 years of experience working in local and international healthcare facilities. She completed her MBBS Degree at Dhaka Medical College and began her career working in the International Centre for Diarrhoeal Diseases Research, Bangladesh. She completed her ECFMG and worked as a volunteer in Mount Sinai Hospital, New York. She later moved to Thailand and worked in Bangkok’s Panja Hospital, where she completed her DTM&H in Tropical Medicine. She received her MPH from Mahidol University and soon after was a visiting physician at Georgetown Medical Center in Washington, DC. In 1992, she moved to London and completed her Master's degree in nutrition at Kings College.
Over the next two decades, she worked and pursued advanced degrees in healthcare in countries such as Spain and Malaysia. During the tenure of her career, she was involved in numerous seminars, workshops, and three JCI accreditations, earning such accolades as the Medal of Appreciation from her Royal Highness Princess Mahachakri Sirindhorn. Dr. Simeen eventually returned to Bangladesh in 2009 and joined Apollo Hospitals as the general manager of quality assurance. She also earned a Health Science Management Degree from North South University in 2014.
