Jeff Olson

Director of Machine Learning at Praetorian

Jeff Olson has extensive work experience in various roles. Jeff started their career as a Graduate Research Assistant at Los Alamos National Laboratory in 2000, where they worked until 2001.

Jeff then joined The University of Texas at Austin as an Assistant Instructor and a Graduate Research Assistant from 2001 to 2008.

In 2008, Jeff joined RGM Advisors, LLC, where they held multiple roles. Jeff initially worked as a Senior Software Developer from 2008 to 2014, contributing to the design and development of a new trading system. Jeff then advanced to become a Quantitative Researcher and Partner, leading a team and spearheading efforts to apply deep learning to automated trading. Jeff also designed and implemented a complete Scala API to Google's TensorFlow library and optimized RGM's primary machine learning algorithm to enable learning on billions of rows of data. Jeff worked at RGM until 2017.

Since 2018, Jeff has been working as the Director of Machine Learning at Praetorian, where they apply their expertise in machine learning.

Jeff Olson completed their education starting from 1994 to 2008. Jeff obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from Washington State University from 1994 to 1998. Following that, they pursued a Master of Science degree in Physics from the same institution, completing it from 1998 to 2001. Finally, they earned their Ph.D. in Physics from The University of Texas at Austin, completing it from 2001 to 2008.
