Craig Michaelson

Craig Michaelson is the firms Chief Operating Officer. As a Partner in the Tax and Advisory Departments of Prager Metis CPAs, he has over 30 years of experience in trusts and estates, Individual and international tax and real estate investments.

With this broad depth of experience, Craig can quarterback income tax planning, wealth transfer strategies through gifting, inter-vivos trust formation and administration and post mortem planning and philanthropy with the use of private family foundations, charitable remainder trusts and donor advised funds.

He feels it is paramount to work directly with and educate all generations of family members about the responsibilities of their wealth, its enhancement and preservation and minimizing the cost of passing it to next generations while always keeping an eye towards their social and philanthropic responsibilities. He works very closely with family attorneys, investment advisors and consultants, art consultants, family foundations, and insurance consultants. With becoming a trusted family advisor, Craig has been asked to act as a family trustee, executor, foundation officer, and board member.

Craig began his accounting career at Polakoff & Michaelson, CPA, P.C. and became its Managing Partner at the age of 27. He enjoyed his whole career there making lifelong friends with his partners before joining with them at Prager Metis CPAs in 2015.
