Nilesh Kumar Sharma

Nilesh Kumar Sharma, Ph.D. has a diverse work experience in the field of bioengineering and bioenergy. Nilesh Kumar started their career as a Visiting Research Scholar at the University of Georgia College of Engineering in 2018, where they optimized protocols for gene knockout and completed fermentation processes for the production of ethanol. Prior to this role, they worked as a Predoctoral Fellow at the Sardar Swaran Singh National Institute of Bio-Energy from 2013 to 2018, where they were involved in the development of a thermotolerant yeast for enhanced xylose assimilation and performed strain improvement and metabolic engineering for biofuel production. Nilesh Kumar also designed predictive pathways and carried out statistical optimization for bioethanol production. Before joining the institute, Nilesh worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher at Worcester Polytechnic Institute from 2020 to 2022.
