Jake Steiner currently serves as the Autonomy Team Lead and Autonomy Engineer II at Pratt Miller since January 2023. Prior to this, Jake worked as a Research Assistant at the University of Utah from August 2016 to December 2022, focusing on innovative modeling and control of soft robots and unmanned aerial vehicles. Notable contributions include developing gait models for magnetic inchworm-like robots and creating collision avoidance methods for UAV swarms. Previous experience includes an internship at Seatrec, Inc., where Jake optimized energy generation systems, as well as participation in an engineering training cruise and work as a sailing instructor. Jake holds a PhD in Mechanical Engineering/Robotics from the University of Utah and a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from California State University Maritime Academy.
