Soshi Watanabe's work experience begins in 2004 at Toppan Printing as an IT engineer and business developer. From 2011 to 2015, they were the leader of a business development project at Preferred Infrastructure, where they were also involved in system consulting, pre-sales, and project management. Soshi then joined Preferred Networks, Inc. in 2015, working in business development until 2023. During this time, they also served as a board member for Intimate Merger, a joint venture between Preferred Infrastructure and FreakOut, Inc. In 2018, Watanabe became a board member for Preferred Medicine, Inc., another joint venture between Preferred Networks, Inc. and MITSUI & CO., LTD. In 2023, they were promoted to the role of VP of Industry Solutions at Preferred Networks, Inc. Additionally, in the same year, Watanabe became a board member for T2, Inc., a joint venture involving Preferred Networks, Inc., MITSUI & CO., LTD., and others.
Soshi Watanabe obtained a Master's degree in Information Science with a specialization in GRID computing from Osaka University, where they studied from 1999 to 2004. Later, from 2009 to 2013, they pursued another Master's degree in Business Administration and Management from the Graduate School of Management at Globis University.

Preferred Networks (PFN) was established in March 2014 with the goal to develop practical, real-world applications of deep learning, robotics and other advanced technologies. PFN’s business domains include transportation, manufacturing, life sciences, robots, plant optimization, materials discovery, education and entertainment. In 2015, PFN developed Chainer™, the open-source deep learning framework. PFN’s MN-3 supercomputer, which is equipped with the MN-Core™ deep learning processor, topped the Green500 list three times in 2020 and 2021.
