Giles Thornton has a diverse work experience across various companies and industries. Giles started their career at Capco, where they provided both business analysis and project management support for an international program. Giles then moved on to HSBC as a Business Analyst, focusing on financial reporting and accounting. At Deutsche Bank, Giles took on the role of PMO, where they managed a large technology change program. Giles also worked at 50 St Edmund's Terrace as an Operations/Security Project Manager, overseeing operational and security improvements for a residential development. Giles has also held roles in information security at Cognita Projects, London Ambulance Service, and KPMG UK. More recently, they worked as a VSOC Risk Consultant at Jaguar Land Rover and as the Director of Skotari Ltd. Currently, Giles holds the position of Head of Information Security at The Premier League.
Giles Thornton completed their education in a chronological order. From 1998 to 2003, they attended Wycliffe College, where they pursued A Levels in History, Geography, and English Literature. Following this, from 2004 to 2007, they studied at the University of Exeter, obtaining a BA (Hons) degree in History & Society.
In addition to their formal education, Giles Thornton has also obtained several certifications. In January 2015, they earned a Level 5 Certificate in Management from the Chartered Management Institute. In February 2015, they achieved an Extended Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management from the ILM. In January 2016, they acquired the Investment Management Certificate from CFA UK. Subsequently, in March 2017, they obtained an APMP certification from the Association for Project Management. In August 2018, they became a Certified Information Security Manager® (CISM) through ISACA. Continuing their professional development, in March 2019, they completed the Certificate of Cloud Security Knowledge v.3 offered by the Cloud Security Alliance. Most recently, in June 2021, they obtained the ISO 27001 Lead Implementer - Information Security Certification from PECB. Additionally, in November 2021, they became a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) through (ISC)².
