Mr. Lawal Aminu is a seasoned banker with over 24 years of experience before his retirement from the bank to start his own business in 2006. He graduated from the prestigious Bayero University, Kano where he bagged a second class upper degree in Economics in 1980, after which he went on to start his career working for the Kaduna State Board of Internal Revenue as an Inspector of Taxes for about a year, before moving on to the banking sector. After a few years of working in the bank he went on to the University of Ibadan where he obtained a Master’s degree in Banking and Finance.
Mr Lawal excelled in climbing the ladder as he progressed in his banking career. In 1992, he became Assistant Manager at the United Bank of Africa (UBA) where he was in charge of Credit Analysis and Appraisal of Credit coming from branches in the North and not long after this he moved to Chartered Bank Plc where he was made Branch Manager in charge of Business Development of the bank in Kano.
As a result of his hard work and dedication to duty, he soon after was made a Senior Manager, still with Chartered Bank but was then transferred to Abuja to open a new branch, he occupied this position from 1996 till 2000 when he made another career move to Prudent Bank Plc where he was made Assistant General Manager (AGM) in charge of all business and branch development in the sector in Abuja.
Before his retirement from the banking industry in 2006 he held the position of Deputy General Manager (DGM) in Skye Bank now Polaris Bank and was part of the Management team that turned around former Prudent Bank from a Merchant Bank with a balance sheet size of about six Hundred Million Naira about Seven years before this to a viable Commercial Bank with balance sheet of over Forty Billion before the last consolidation of Commercial banks.
Mr. Lawal also attended various courses in Management, banking operations, Credit and Marketing including the Advance Credit Programme with Chemical Bank in New York and an attachment with Mellon Bank in Philadelphia in the U.S and a working visit to the New York Stock Exchange and World Trade Centre.
