Dr. Ramya Mehta

Director Of Quality And Performance Excellence at Presbyterian Intercommunity Hospital

Dr. Ramya Mehta has a diverse and extensive work experience in the healthcare industry. Dr. Ramya is currently serving as the Director of Quality and Performance Excellence at PIH Health since 2023. Prior to this, they were the Director of Quality and Risk Management at ScionHealth from 2020 to 2023. Dr. Ramya also worked at Peace Health Medical Center from 2019 to 2020 as the Professional Practice Leader- Surgery Administration, overseeing continuous innovation in areas of clinical quality, safety, and patient experience.

Before that, Dr. Mehta served at Sutter Health from 2017 to 2019 as the Sepsis Lead and Clinical Documentation Integrity Specialist, leading a sepsis project that reduced severe sepsis mortality rates. From 2016 to 2017, they worked at Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Hospital as a Pre-Op/Phase I & II/Moderate Sedation RN, where they implemented process improvement activities and created policies for surgical services.

Dr. Mehta also has experience as a Registered Nurse at Platinum Healthcare Staffing, Inc. from 2011 to 2016, where they worked in various departments and facilities, and at Heallthcare Partners as an RN Supervisor (Out-Patient) in 2013-2014, managing specialty and primary care clinics. Dr. Ramya started their career at Redlands Community Hospital in 2006, working as an RN/Charge Nurse in various departments.

Throughout their career, Dr. Mehta has demonstrated expertise in quality improvement, risk management, clinical leadership, and staff education. Dr. Ramya has actively contributed to performance improvement activities, facilitated CQI initiatives, and successfully implemented changes to enhance patient care and outcomes.

Dr. Ramya Mehta, DNP, RN, CPHQ, NEA-BC obtained their Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Nursing from Apollo College of Nursing in 2001. Dr. Ramya continued their education at Chamberlain University, where they earned their Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree in the Executive Track program from 2010 to 2016. Dr. Mehta then pursued further education at Chamberlain University and completed their Doctorate of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree in Healthcare Systems Leadership from 2016 to 2018. Dr. Ramya has also obtained several certifications, including Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) in September 2018 and Certified Post Anesthesia Nurse from the American Society of PeriAnesthesia Nurses in November 2011. Dr. Mehta has additional certifications in healthcare financial management, Lean Six Sigma Foundations, and project management. Dr. Ramya is currently a registered nurse licensed by the California Board of Nursing.
