Brett Matens

Chief Operating Officer at Presbyterian St. Luke's Medical Center

Brett is the current Chief Operating Officer for Presbyterian/St. Luke’s and Rocky Mountain Hospital for Children. He joined the team in 2016, bringing more than 15 years of operating experience, with his most recent role being the Chief Operating Officer at HCA’s St. David’s South Austin Medical Center in Austin, TX. Prior to this, he served as the Vice President of Operations at Rapides Regional Medical Center in Alexandria, LA. Brett earned his Master of Health Administration degree from Tulane University in New Orleans, LA, and his Bachelor of Science degree from Mississippi State University in Starkville, MS.

In his current COO role, Brett directly oversees operations at P/SL and RMHC, and is responsible for multiple service lines including Oncology, Cardiovascular, Emergency Services, Skull Base, and Transplant Services.

As an active member of the community, Brett is a Board Member of the Colorado Association of Healthcare Executives, serving as the Liaison for all healthcare CEOs and COOs in Colorado. He is also an Elder at Denver Community Church, a member of the Health and Wellness Committee of the Denver Metro Chamber of Commerce and Chairman of the Board for the River Conference, which oversees a network of churches and charity organizations in eight states in the Mountain West.

Brett lives in Denver with his wife, Christi, and their three children. They enjoy skiing, hiking, biking and everything else the Colorado lifestyle has to offer.
