Tom Preston-Werner has extensive experience in the tech industry. Tom is the co-founder of several successful companies, including Preston-Werner Ventures, Chatterbug, and Codestarter. At Preston-Werner Ventures and Chatterbug, they played a pivotal role as a co-founder. Additionally, Tom served as a board member at Netlify. Tom also served as an advisor at Kora Sustainability. Prior to founding their own companies, Tom held various software developer roles at Powerset, Inc. and The Active Network, Inc. Tom co-founded GitHub in 2008, where they served as the CTO and CEO until 2014.

Tom Preston-Werner attended Dubuque Senior High School from 1992 to 1997, where they did not pursue a specific degree or field of study. In 1997, they enrolled at Harvey Mudd College and studied Computer Science for two years before dropping out.
