Yari Greaney

Program Manager, Environmental Justice and Local Politics at Preston-Werner Ventures

Yari Greaney has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and industries. They started their career as a Geospatial Analysis Assistant at Stanford University, where they guided students and faculty in the use of GIS software for spatial research. Yari also served as a Teaching Assistant for Geospatial Information Systems and Principles and Practices of Sustainable Agriculture at Stanford, where they facilitated labs and led discussions on sustainable farming practices.

Following this, Yari worked as a Campaign Director for Fossil Free Stanford, where they built and managed a campaign to divest Stanford from fossil fuels. They facilitated strategy sessions, managed the campaign's database and website, and coordinated a 100-person sit-in. Yari also liaised with other environmental and social justice organizations.

After their time at Fossil Free Stanford, Yari gained experience in the field of environmental advocacy and program management. They worked as a Program Officer at Global Water 2020, focusing on water-related initiatives, and as an Outreach Assistant at Water 2017, where they supported outreach efforts.

Yari's commitment to environmental causes also led them to work on Bernie Sanders' presidential campaign as a Program Associate and at Climate Advocacy Lab as a Program Associate.

In their most recent role, Yari joined Preston-Werner Ventures as a Program Manager, specializing in Environmental Justice and Local Politics.

Additionally, in partnership with Engineers Without Borders - Canada, Yari served as a Water Governance and Gender Dynamics Research Fellow for the Global Women's Water Initiative. They conducted interviews and surveys, analyzed data, and wrote a report on finance flows, accountability mechanisms, and gender dynamics in Uganda's water and sanitation governance structures.

Throughout their career, Yari has demonstrated a strong passion for environmental sustainability, social justice, and advocacy. They possess a range of skills in program management, research, communication, and coordination.

Yari Greaney holds a Bachelor's Degree in Earth Systems: Land Management from Stanford University, which was earned between the years 2011 and 2015. Following this, Yari pursued a Master's Degree in Earth Systems: Climate Resilience at Stanford University from 2015 to 2016.
