Alex Lustig-Elgrably has a diverse work experience background. In 2011, Alex interned at the U.S. Department of Justice. The following year, they worked as a summer associate at Debevoise & Plimpton before later joining Yale University as a teaching fellow in 2012. Alex returned to Debevoise & Plimpton in 2013 as an associate and remained in that role until 2017. During this time, they also worked as an associate at Kirkland & Ellis from 2017 to 2019. In 2019, Alex transitioned to Pretium, initially holding the position of Vice President and Associate General Counsel before being promoted to Director and Associate General Counsel in 2021. Additionally, in 2017, Alex became a member of the Board of Directors for JQY and later took on the role of Chair of the Board of Directors in 2021.

Alex Lustig-Elgrably attended New York University where they earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology. Following this, they pursued further education at Yale Law School, obtaining a Doctor of Law (J.D.) degree.
