Dr. Sherrie A. Johnson attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and majored in Journalism and Mass Communications. She received her master’s degree from Johns Hopkins University in Communications and obtained a Doctor of Education at Grand Canyon University in Organizational Leadership.
Dr. Johnson joined Prince George’s Community College in October 2022 as vice president of External Affairs, Communications, and Advancement. She is responsible for leading the College’s comprehensive external affairs program, which includes oversight of Government Relations and Community Engagement, Communications and Marketing, and Institutional Advancement.
Dr. Johnson has served in a leadership capacity as a vice president and director for local governments, secondary and K-12 public education organizations, and corporate communications. She has also served as part of executive management teams in leadership roles overseeing communications, advancement, and management principles with a critical impact on citizens, employees, and organizations. Dr. Johnson has also taught writing courses for communications and public relations as adjunct faculty at the college level.
In her career, Dr. Johnson has supervised award-winning teams and managed all areas of communications. She is also an Emmy Award-winning broadcast journalist with twenty years of experience in news anchoring with local and national news organizations.
Dr. Johnson is a proven leader in communication, talent development, and organizational effectiveness.
