Het Prinses Máxima Centrum voor kinderoncologie is een uniek initiatief van ouders van kinderen met kanker en professionals in de kinderoncologie in Nederland om alle top-expertise op zorg- en onderzoeksgebied samen te voegen in één nationaal centrum. Dit is nodig omdat kanker nog steeds de meest voorkomende doodsoorzaak door ziekte is op jonge leeftijd en het genezingspercentage in de afgelopen 10 jaar nauwelijks is toegenomen. Concentratie van de behandeling van en het onderzoek naar alle vormen van kinderkanker in één centrum is een wezenlijke stap naar betere kwaliteit en hogere overlevingskansen.
