David Wachtel

David Wachtel serves as the Board President of Princeton in Latin America (PiLA), overseeing the organization's relaunch for the 2024/25 cycle after a three-year hiatus due to COVID-19. As a Co-Founder of ESG Media Labs and a Senior Marketing Advisor for The Decade Project, Wachtel focuses on diversifying support for female and BIPOC-owned business start-ups in the United States. Previously, Wachtel held senior roles at The Blackstone Group, leading initiatives to inspire global entrepreneurship, and Endeavor, where efforts were directed toward supporting high-impact entrepreneurs in emerging markets. Wachtel's early career includes positions at Wachtel Media, Dow Jones/Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg, and Institutional Investor. Educational qualifications include an AB in International Affairs from Princeton University, an MA in French Studies from New York University, and a Diploma in Economics from the College of Europe.

Princeton in Latin America (PiLA) helps future leaders develop lifelong connections to Latin America and the Caribbean, placing recent college graduates into highly selective year-long fellowships with social organizations throughout the Americas. Fellows experience first-hand the power of effecting positive social change through their work in fields ranging from environmental conservation to socio-economic advancement, education & youth capacity building and public & community health, among other areas. Since launching in 2003, PiLA has placed 535 fellows in 20 countries.
