George Djurasovic

George Djurasovic is vice president and interim general counsel for Principal Financial Group®. He leads more than 430 legal, compliance, and government relations professionals located in 15+ countries. Their role is to help our businesses innovate and grow while complying with the laws, regulations, and policies in all 80+ nations and territories where Principal® serves customers. The team also helps guide our advocacy strategy around the globe to ensure the needs of our customers are met.

George joined Principal in June 2022 as vice president and general counsel for Principal Asset Management®. Before joining Principal, he served as global chief compliance officer and associate counsel at Artisan Partners in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and as head of the U.S. regulatory compliance team at Goldman Sachs Asset Management in New York. Prior to those roles, George worked with the legal teams at Goldman Sachs, TIAA-CREF, and Debevoise & Plimpton.

George has a juris doctorate degree from Yale Law School in New Haven, Connecticut, and his bachelor’s degree in political economy from Williams College in Williamstown, Massachusetts. He has served on committees and working groups at the Investment Company Institute and the SIFMA Asset Management Group. George has also been on the Board of Directors of International Orthodox Christian Charities, Inc. for over 20 years.
