Senior Global Performance Engineer at Principle Power

Surya Banumurthy has a strong background in technology development and engineering. They started their career in 2009 as a Technology Development Engineer at FloaTEC, LLC, where they worked until 2016. During this time, they gained experience in various aspects of technology development.

In 2016, Surya joined Keppel FloaTEC, LLC as a Senior Engineer in Technology Development and Naval Architecture. In this role, they were responsible for developing a new structurally optimized semi-submersible design that reduced platform steel weight by 10%. They also verified the global performance response of a platform using model test data and time-domain analysis for the world's largest storage semi-submersible, the CNOOC Lingshui Semi-submersible. Surya received a provisional patent for their work.

In 2020, Surya transitioned to FPS Engineering & Technology, LLC as a Senior Engineer in Technology Development. They worked on various projects and contributed to the company until March 2022.

Currently, Surya is a Senior Global Performance Engineer at Principle Power, starting in October 2021.

Surya Banumurthy has a diverse education history. They obtained a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree in Business Administration and Management, General from the Texas McCombs School of Business, which was attended from 2019 to 2021. Prior to that, Surya pursued a Master of Science (MS) degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley, which was completed between 2007 and 2008. Their undergraduate studies were done at the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, where they earned a Bachelor of Technology (BTech) degree in Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering from 2003 to 2007. In addition to their formal education, Surya also possesses various certifications. These include "Technology for Product Managers" from LinkedIn, "Foundations" and "PMC Level I" from Pragmatic Institute, "Machine Learning Fundamentals with Python," "Unsupervised Learning in Python," "Business Intelligence for Consultants," "Data Visualization for Everyone," "Problem Solving," and "Supervised Learning with scikit-learn" from DataCamp, "Data8.1x: Foundations of Data Science: Computational Thinking with Python" from the University of California, Berkeley through edX, and finally, the "Professional Engineer (PE)" certification from the Texas Board of Professional Engineers.
