Curtis M. Welch has a diverse education history spanning various fields and disciplines. In 1993, they obtained a certification as an Emergency Medical Technician from Central Carolina Technical College. In 1996, Curtis attended the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy for training as a Law Enforcement Officer, specializing in SLE. Curtis M. also became certified as a Swiftwater Rescue Technician through Rescue 3 International, as well as an Extrication Specialist through the South Carolina Association of Rescue Squads.
In 2000, Curtis focused on Aquatic Rescue and became a Person Watercraft Rescue Specialist International. In subsequent years, they gained expertise in various areas related to emergency response and counterterrorism operations. These include Weapons of Mass Destruction - Chemical & Biological Operations at Louisiana State University (2003), COBRA Team Operations at the Department of Homeland Security - CDP (2003), National Incident Management System at the Federal Emergency Management Administration (2012), and Weapons of Mass Destruction - Counterterrorism Operations at Texas A&M University (2002).
Curtis also received training in Radiological / Nuclear Terrorism Response at the Center for Radiological & Nuclear Training (2004) and Biological Terrorism at the National Center for Biomedical Research and Training (2004). Curtis M. completed studies in Hazardous Materials - Operations at the National Domestic Preparedness Center (2003) and Instructor Methodology at Pee Dee Regional EMS (2013).
Additionally, Curtis holds several certifications. Curtis M. became a South Carolina Emergency Medical Technician Paramedic in 1993, a Nationally Registered Paramedic in 1997, and a South Carolina EMT-Paramedic in the same year. In 2008, they obtained the South Carolina Paramedic certification from the South Carolina DHEC Bureau of EMS & Trauma.
