Jeff Brennan

Jeff Brennan is currently an advisor at Privacy Vaults Online, Inc., d/b/a PRIVO. From April 2016 to March 2022, they were the General Counsel and Chief Privacy Officer at Vettd, a company that provides team analytics for workforce planning. Brennan was responsible for organizational awareness to drive critical decision making.

Previously, Brennan was the Chief Privacy Officer and General Counsel at Finsphere Corporation from January 2009 to April 2016. Jeff was recruited to support Finsphere’s identity-authentication services and provided strategic guidance to ensure security and privacy policies and procedures were in compliance with state, federal, and international laws. Brennan also served as the primary lawyer for the company, responsible for legal guidance, business agreements, and overseeing the intellectual property portfolio.

During their time at Finsphere Corporation, Brennan established a privacy infrastructure and advised senior executives on all privacy/data protection matters. Jeff also ensured compliance with U.S. and European privacy regulations through a privacy strategy for service delivery. In addition, Brennan determined personal data consent requirements, communicated the importance of privacy awareness across departments, and interpreted and addressed privacy risks. Jeff also developed terms, conditions, and a privacy policy for a new consumer-based Web service.

Brennan also kept current with E.U. and U.S. privacy laws, regulations, and best practices impacting financial services, wireless provision of online and mobile services. Jeff participated in International Association of Privacy Professionals forums, including 2 European Data Protection Congresses. Jeff also served as primary contact for Department of Commerce U.S.-E.U. Safe Harbor Framework and advocated company positions with privacy officials in UK’s Information Commissioner’s Office. In addition, Brennan represented the company on NSTIC Governance workshop kickoff in the U.S..

Finally, Brennan led public relations and marketing efforts in the U.S. and EMEA. Jeff coordinated PR and social media strategies, managed an outside media firm, and captured speaking engagements and press releases. Jeff also participated in major financial tradeshows in the U.S. and E.U., presented at the 2012 Finovate Show in London, played a key role in direct investment in Finsphere by a large wireless carrier, and managed the relationship of Finsphere’s U.S. third-party distribution vendor.

Jeff Brennan has a JD from Seattle University School of Law, an MBA from Angelo State University, and a BBA from Angelo State University. Jeff is also certified by the International Association of Privacy Professionals as a Fellow of Information Privacy (FIP), Certified Information Privacy Professional/Europe (CIPP/E), Certified Information Privacy Professional/United States (CIPP/US), and Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM).
