CEO & Chairman at Privateer Space

Alex Fielding has a diverse work experience spanning various industries.

Alex is currently the CEO & Chairman of Privateer Space, a position they have held since June 2021. Before that, they founded and served as the CEO of Ripcord from August 2014 to June 2021. Ripcord is a company focused on digitizing paper documents using robotics and artificial intelligence.

Aside from their entrepreneurial ventures, Alex has also worked as a Robotics Advisor on the Advisory Board of Astra since December 2018. Astra is a space company aiming to revolutionize the space industry.

Prior to their entrepreneurial endeavors, Alex worked at NASA as an Agency Direct Contractor from 2010 to 2015. Alex also served as an advisor to the CTO at Piston Cloud Computing, Inc. from March 2011 to September 2014. During this time, they worked on solutions for the US Government and played a role in the development of OpenStack.

Additionally, Alex has experience as the Vice President Federal & Energy at Vigilent, where they optimized mission-critical cooling systems. Alex held this role from May 2013 to June 2014.

Before that, they served as the Chief Technology Officer at Power Assure, Inc. from 2009 to February 2013. In this role, they focused on architecting solutions for use within the US Government and developed a global partner strategy.

At the beginning of their career, Alex co-founded Wheels of Zeus, a company focusing on GPS locator technology. Alex served as the co-founder, CTO, and advisor from 2001 to 2005. The company was later sold to Zontrak.

Alex also held various roles at Exodus Communications from 1999 to 2001, including West Coast Manager Platinum Network Engineering and Sr. Staff Engineer. Exodus was a prominent data center provider.

In addition to their professional experience, Alex has also been a mentor at Orange since February 2018.

Alex Fielding is a Founding Member of Singularity University, although the start and end years of this educational experience are unknown. From 2017 to 2019, Alex studied at Stanford University, where they pursued continuing education in Business Administration, Management, and Operations with a focus on M&A. Prior to that, there is no specific information regarding Alex's education, but it is known that they attended San Jose State University at some point, though the degree name and field of study remain unspecified.
