The Probation Institute is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) - registered charity number 1198486.

The Probation Institute provides professional leadership and development opportunities for practitioners and leaders in rehabilitation and the protection of the public, across the public, voluntary and independent organisations. 

Membership is open to individual practitioners and professionals concerned with the rehabilitation of offenders.

Membership is inclusive to all staff, regardless of grade, employer or job role. The Institute also actively invites partner relationships with employers in the sector and other organisations or stakeholders in the criminal justice arena.

As a member you'll have the opportunity to: 

- Influence policy by contributing to Probation Institute responses to consultations, reviews, and requests for information across probation and rehabilitation.
- Contribute to the development of Probation Institute practice notes and position papers, enabling practitioners to access up-to-date and relevant information to improve their practice.
- Join our strong Research Panel and funded research projects.
- Apply to the Probation Institute Research Awards.
- Write for the Probation Quarterly – online journal committed to accessible, evidence based articles based in practice.
