Carrie Wilson is an experienced Marine Biologist and Outdoor Columnist with a comprehensive background in wildlife conservation and outdoor writing. Since September 1988, Carrie has worked for the California Department of Fish and Wildlife and has been an influential voice in outdoor writing through various roles, including columnist for Western Outdoor News and outdoor writer for California Outdoors. As President of the Outdoor Writers Association of California and a freelance travel and outdoor writer, Carrie has published over 900 columns across numerous platforms. Additionally, Carrie served as a Wilderness Leadership Instructor and Staff Photographer at the American Wilderness Leadership School. Educational credentials include a Bachelor of Science in Marine, Wildlife, Fisheries, and Environmental Sciences from California Polytechnic State University-San Luis Obispo and an Associate of Arts and Sciences in Veterinary Sciences from Butte College.
