Senior Director of Bioinformatics at PrognomiQ

Manway Liu has a wealth of experience in the fields of bioinformatics, computational biology, and biomedical engineering. Manway is currently the Senior Director of Bioinformatics at PrognomiQ Inc, a position they have held since 2021. Prior to this, they were the Director of Bioinformatics at Verily (formerly Google[x] Life Sciences) from 2015 to 2021, where they were the Scientific & Technical Lead, Computational Biology. From 2010 to 2015, they were an Investigator (Oncology Translational Research) at Novartis, where they built predictive models of drug responses from genetic data in preclinical models. From 2011 to 2012, they were a Lecturer (BE500) at Boston University. Manway received their Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering from Boston University in 2004. In 2008, they co-founded and became President of Golden Tree Arts, a US-based distributor of fair-trade, handmade arts and crafts from women in poverty in Calcutta, India and war & AIDS orphans in Rwanda, Africa. From 2004 to 2006, they were a Web Consultant for the Friends of the Longfellow House, a non-profit organization established to help preserve the historic Longfellow House. Manway received their Master's degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the Whitehead Institute in 2002, and was a Software Engineering Intern at Hewlett-Packard in 2000. Manway began their academic career as an Undergraduate Student Researcher at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in 1999.

Manway Liu received a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in 2002, after studying there from 1998. Manway then continued their studies at MIT and obtained a Master of Engineering in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science in 2004. In 2010, they completed their Doctor of Philosophy in Biomedical/Medical Engineering at Boston University.
