Hakeem Basir has extensive experience in legal and regulatory roles, serving as the Chief Legal and Compliance Officer at Progresif from January 2021 to September 2023, and previously holding the position of Head of Legal and Regulatory and Head of Legal and Compliance at the same company from March 2019 to December 2019. Hakeem's earlier roles include Special Duties Officer at the Public Service Department, Head of the Office of the Minister of Energy and Industry, and Corporate Secretary at Pantai Jerudong Specialist Centre. Hakeem also contributed as a Board Member for the Brunei Economic Development Board and held leadership positions at the Energy Department and Brunei National Petroleum Company Sdn Bhd. Hakeem holds a Master of Laws (LLM) from Southern Methodist University and a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) from Cardiff University, alongside a Bar Vocational Course from BPP Law School.
