President & CEO at Project Bread

Erin McAleer currently serves as President & CEO of Project Bread since October 2017. Previously, Erin held positions as an Adjunct Professor at both Simmons School of Social Work and Boston University School of Social Work from 2012 to 2018. As Director of Opportunity Boston for Be The Change, Inc., Erin provided strategic leadership to enhance opportunities for children living in poverty in Boston. In Governor Deval Patrick's administration, Erin was the Director of Cabinet Affairs, liaising between the Cabinet and the Governor's office. Erin also served as Legislative Director at the Executive Office of Health and Human Services, advocating for successful health care legislation, and was Chief of Staff at the MA Department of Transitional Assistance. Additional experience includes working as a Senior Associate at Charles Group Consulting and as a Fiscal Policy Analyst at the Executive Office of Administration and Finance. Erin holds a Master’s degree in Social Work from Boston College and a Bachelor’s degree in History from the College of the Holy Cross.

Too many people across Massachusetts are worried about affording enough food. Project Bread works statewide to connect people and communities to programs that meet nutritional needs and alleviate household budgets. Our advocacy is driven by the real-time challenges of people experiencing food insecurity, so we can permanently break the cycle of hunger. - Provide immediate relief to those who are hungry today - Eradicate the systemic causes of hunger From community-based meal programs, to early childhood and school nutrition initiatives, to improved access to farm-to-table and local food resources, we approach hunger as a complex problem with multiple solutions that often work best in combination, and through cooperation and collaboration between communities and organizations.
