Marcella Wijngaarden has a diverse work experience spanning various fields. Marcella is currently the Co-founder and Chief Tech & Data of Impactbytes, a company that focuses on making it easier for businesses to check the sustainability credentials of the products they promote or sell. Prior to this, they co-founded Project Cece, a search engine for sustainable fashion. At Project Cece, they took on the roles of Chief Tech and Lead Developer.

Marcella's academic background is in Mathematical Sciences, as they worked as a PhD Researcher at the University of Southampton from 2017 to 2021. Their research focused on using computational analyses to infer neutron star dense matter physics and developing data analysis tools for studying gravitational wave signals.

Marcella also has experience as a Pre Doctoral Fellow and Research Analyst at the Simons Foundation in 2020.

Marcella's work experience includes technical assistance and support at the Anton Pannekoek Observatory at the Universiteit van Amsterdam from 2014 to 2017, where they were also a Teaching Assistant and Student Research Mentor.

Prior to their academic pursuits, Marcella worked as a Taarten bakker (cake baker) at Lunchroom Wilhelmina from 2011 to 2015, and in management and technology roles at Algren Energy B.V. from 2011 to 2014. Additionally, they worked as a Bijlesdocent (tutor) in Physics, Mathematics, and Chemistry from 2012 to 2013.
