Laney Whitcanack

Director at Project Glimmer

Laney Whitcanack is the current Director at Project Glimmer. Prior to that, they were the Co-Founder and COO at Big Tent Design, Inc. from February 2006 to October 2010. The software company they helped create connects real-world parenting communities online and had over 2 million users and thousands of groups across the US. The company was funded by Menlo Ventures and Mohr Davidow Ventures.

Whitcanack's responsibilities at Big Tent Design, Inc. included leading the customer experience (product management, design and customer support), marketing, and engineering teams. Laney also sold ad programs and facilitated strategic partnerships with companies like Red Beacon (acquired by Home Depot) and The Deal Map (acquired by Google).

Prior to their work at Big Ten Design, Inc., Whitcanack served as the Special Assistant to the City Attorney at the City and County of San Francisco from December 1998 to November 2000.

Whitcanack has also served as the CEO at Coro Northern California.

Laney Whitcanack holds an Ed.M. from Harvard Graduate School of Education in Adult Leadership Development, an MBA from Simmons College - Simmons School of Management in Entrepreneurship/Entrepreneurial Studies, and a B.A. from University of California, Los Angeles in English/World Literature. Laney also studied at the Department of Letters and Sciences at the University of Granada in Granada, Spain.
