Project Play centres around a belief in the power of play as being vital for children's wellbeing and development. We aim to create a safe space where children and families can build positive memories to assist in processing the toxic stress of their environment. 

We run play sessions in living sites, accommodation centres and safehouses across Northern France. Our project was created in 2019 after our founders realised that children were left with little or no entertainment in unsafe living conditions and were denied access to the right to education and so decided to fill this gap left by the state. 

All sessions promote child-led play and our activities are designed to help achieve core objectives, such as emotional regulation, creativity and teamwork, with the aim that our play sessions informally prepare children for full-time education. 

We are a team of 5 Ground Coordinators (Activities, Advocacy, Operations and Logistics, Volunteer and Welfare, and Safeguarding) and up to 5 volunteers (who stay for a minimum of 2 months). Every year, we have talented volunteers from all across the world and from different childcare backgrounds bringing a wide variety of experiences, knowledge and skillsets to our team.
