Project Recover
John Heeg is an experienced professional with a diverse background in education, emergency services, and diving instruction. Currently serving as a Fire Instructor at Suffolk County Fire Academy and a Divemaster/Assistant Dive Instructor at Hampton Dive Center, John also holds a long-standing position as a Social Studies Teacher in the Deer Park School District, where mentoring new teachers has been an integral part of John's role since 2008. Additional experience includes serving as a Firefighter/Emergency Medical Technician at Mattituck Fire Department, an Aviation Resource Manager with the NY Air National Guard, and various roles in security, public health, and rescue operations. John holds multiple degrees and certifications related to fire protection, education, and leadership from respected institutions.

Project Recover
Project Recover’s vision is: (i) to repatriate every American service member who has not come home through research, searches, recoveries and other methodologies; (ii) to provide information and closure to the families of service members; (iii) to provide a platform to educate the public on the importance of service to one’s country; and (iv) to provide unique educational opportunities in the areas of science, technology, history, leadership, public service and diplomacy to a committed student audience, in conjunction with Project Recover’s mission, in order to provide a real world application to students and further educate the public.
