Adam Okerlund has a strong background in the biotechnology industry, with a focus on research and development. Adam started their career as a Graduate Research Fellow at the Center for Biocatalysis and Bioprocessing in 2004. From 2006 to 2007, they worked as an Intern in Biochemistry at Genencor. In 2008, they joined Optherion, Inc. as a Scientist, where they constructed bacterial expression vectors and optimized expression and purification protocols. In 2009, they moved to Novus as a Biochemical Engineer and Senior Research Scientist, where they directed separation and analytical efforts. From 2011 to 2017, Okerlund worked at the Center for Biorenewable Chemicals (CBiRC) as a Translational Research Manager, coordinating the collaboration of various research groups and directing scouting research projects. Most recently, they have been employed at Proliant Biologicals since 2017 as a Scientist II, managing and collaborating on multiple research projects, designing protein purification and formulation strategies, and developing new analytical techniques.
Adam Okerlund began their educational journey in 1997 at Iowa State University, where they pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering. Adam dedicated himself to their studies until 2002, successfully completing their undergraduate education.
Motivated by their passion for Chemical and Biochemical Engineering, Adam proceeded to enroll in the University of Iowa in 2002. Adam pursued a Ph.D. degree in Chemical and Biochemical Engineering and dedicated the next five years to their doctoral studies.
In 2007, Adam successfully obtained their Ph.D. from the University of Iowa, solidifying their expertise in the field.
