Prolupin GmbH
Prolupin GmbH is a spin-off from the Fraunhofer Institute for Process Engineering and Packaging IVV in Freising. The world-leading expertise on the fractionation of lupines and the application of this in food technology gives the business a strong position in the vegetable protein market. This position is secured by several Fraunhofer patents. The company's business activities focus on developing, producing and marketing vegetable-based, lactose-free milk substitutes from the blue sweet lupine (Lupinus angustifolius). This domestic legume is particularly rich in proteins, undemanding with regard to soil and climate and grows predominantly in Northern Germany (soybean of the north), Poland, Scandinavia, North America and Australia. With the processing technologies developed at Fraunhofer IVV, it is possible to adapt the lupine protein flavor profile in such a way as to achieve a milk-like taste.
