Niels ten Boom

Niels ten Boom has a diverse work experience spanning multiple companies and roles. Niels is currently a Platform Team Lead at Promaton since May 2023. Prior to that, they worked as an MLOps Engineer at Promaton from July 2021 to May 2023.

Before joining Promaton, Niels worked at RTL as a Data Platform Engineer from March 2020 to June 2021. Niels'sresponsibilities included the productionalization of data science models and data ingestion workflows, deploying and maintaining the data platform, and migrating applications to Azure cloud provider. Niels also worked as a Machine Learning Engineer at RTL from July 2019 to March 2020 and as a Data Scientist Intern for their graduation project from October 2018 to June 2019, where they developed an algorithm for unsupervised skippable segment detection in video files.

Prior to their time at RTL, Niels worked as a Data Scientist Intern at IBM from March 2018 to May 2018, where they contributed to the development of the cognitive staffer platform.

Before their internship at IBM, Niels worked as a Software Engineer at IB Broadcast from September 2015 to November 2016. Niels'sresponsibilities included improving and maintaining source code, executing complex SQL queries, and enhancing system performance through database alterations.

During their studies, Niels also gained experience as a Webdeveloper at SST Software B.V., where they worked part-time from September 2013 to August 2015. Niels'sresponsibilities included front-end development and back-end setup using PHP frameworks.

Niels started their professional journey as a Webdeveloper at HPU internet services b.v. in July 2012.

Niels ten Boom completed their pre-university education at Ludger College from 2005 to 2011. Niels then pursued a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Computer Science with a specialization in Technische Informatica at the University of Twente from 2011 to 2015. Following their undergraduate studies, Niels pursued a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Computing Science with a specialization in Data Science at Radboud University from 2016 to 2019.
