Job description

The SpEd Paraprofessional will be working with teachers to support students with special needs. Their responsibilities include helping students access the curriculum, providing extra support, and assisting with classroom management.  Support students: Provide extra assistance and support to students during lessons  Help with classroom management: Supervise students and help teachers manage the classroom  Assist with instruction: Help teachers with lesson plans, materials, and grading  Record student progress: Document student behavior and progress socially and academically  Participate in meetings: Possibly attend meetings with teachers and other professionals  Create inclusive learning environments: Work to create supportive learning environments for students with diverse needs 

Education Requirements

  • a high school diploma or equivalent, strong communication skills, and must pass a proficiency test, which measures your ability to assist in the classroom; specific requirements may vary by state and school district.
