Michael Doughty began their work experience in 2002 as a Software Engineer/Architect at Conduit Networks, Inc, where they performed a complete redesign of a client's e-commerce website. In 2003, they worked as a Senior SQL Database Developer/Analyst at LPL Financial, developing databases and reporting mechanisms. Michael then joined Mad Catz as a Software Engineer, developing a Product Change Management and Tracking System. In 2004, they became an Information Technology Consultant at Current Analysis, generating a Functional Specification Document for a complex application. From 2005 to 2011, they held various roles at EDmin.com, including Senior Software Engineer, Manager of Software Development, and Principal Software Engineer. In 2010, they had a short-term contract as a Contract Consultant at River Coyote Design. From 2015 to 2016, they worked as a Senior .NET Developer on a short-term contract at SNH Inc. In 2016, they became a Lead Software Engineer at Sperian Energy. In 2017, they joined National Credit Center as a Senior Software Developer, where they implemented Identity Server 4. Currently, they are working as a Sr. Programmer Analyst at Prometheus Laboratories Inc., replacing an existing LIMS with Labvantage implementation and developing MuleSoft orchestrations.

Michael Doughty's education history begins in 1991 when they attended the Oklahoma School of Science and Mathematics, where they obtained their High School Diploma in 1993. Michael then went on to study at the United States Naval Academy from 1993 to 1997, earning a Bachelor of Science degree with Merit in Systems Engineering.

Following their time at the Naval Academy, in 1997, Michael attended the Naval Nuclear Propulsion School (NNPS) to further their knowledge in Nuclear Power. However, no degree was specified for this program.

In terms of additional certifications, Michael obtained a CompTIA A+ Computer Technician Certification in 2000. Michael also became a Microsoft Certified Professional (MS Windows NT 4.0 Server) during the same year, with the certification being granted by Microsoft. In 1997, Michael obtained an Engineer in Training certification from the State of Maryland. Finally, in November 2017, they received a Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) Certification from the Consumer Data Industry Association.
