Jean-Pierre Barral

Jean-Pierre Barral is currently serving as Chargé de mission auprès de la Direction Générale at Proparco since February 2025. Previously, Jean-Pierre held the position of Deputy CEO at STOA Infra & Energy from September 2021 to February 2025, and before that, served as Head of Energy and Digital Transition at Agence Française de Développement from September 2018 to September 2021. Jean-Pierre has extensive experience in investment advising as a Principal Investment Advisor at IFC from September 2015 to July 2018, and as Vice President of Business Development EMEA at ContourGlobal from July 2013 to May 2015, where leadership in the Cap des Biches project in Senegal was notable. Earlier roles included Head of the Infrastructure and Mining division at PROPARCO and Investment Officer at Agence Française de Développement. Jean-Pierre holds an MBA from INSEAD and an MSc in Sciences from École Polytechnique.
