Brendan Salmond

Brendan Salmond has a diverse work experience spanning over two decades. Brendan recently held the position of Head of Legislative Technology at Propylon since September 2021. Prior to that, they were a Senior Software Engineer at Propylon from May 2017 to October 2021.

Before their time at Propylon, Brendan worked as an independent contractor and full-stack Software Engineer at Badger Meter, a leading water meter manufacturer in the USA. Brendan was responsible for the development and maintenance of water analytics software and worked on designing and implementing new features for BEACON, Badger Meter's flagship water analytics application.

As an Independent Contractor from 2012 to 2014, Brendan provided web development and application architecture services to various clients in Silicon Valley.

From 2009 to 2012, they worked as a Senior Developer at SolutionSet, leading development efforts for clients and delivering high-quality work within compressed timelines. Their clients included MRC Corporation, California Lottery, BetterPlace, and TXU Energy.

Before that, Brendan worked as a Senior Web Developer at Squonk Studios from 2008 to 2009, where they created dynamic websites and developed an interactive Google Earth-based application.

During their time at UCSC, Film and Digital Media Department from 2007 to 2008, they served as a Research Assistant, developing websites and providing guidance on web and technical infrastructure.

From 2001 to 2002, Brendan worked as an IT Specialist at Ceres, where they managed the organization's information technology budget, administered LAN and firewall systems, and led the development of organizational websites.

Brendan Salmond obtained a Bachelor of Arts (B.A) degree in Art/Art History from the University of Massachusetts, Boston, from 1999 to 2001. Brendan then pursued a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) degree in Digital Arts and New Media from the University of California, Santa Cruz, between 2006 and 2008. Recently, in 2021, Brendan completed a Professional Diploma in Leadership and Management from the UCD Professional Academy.
