Janne Turunen

Janne Turunen is a seasoned expert in RNA modulation and therapeutic oligonucleotides, currently serving as the Principal Scientific Advisor at ProQR Therapeutics since June 2015. In this role, Janne Turunen enhances project success rates through predictive early screening methodologies and bioinformatics integration. Previously, Janne Turunen held leadership positions including Director of Technologies, overseeing a team focused on RNA-targeting oligonucleotide technologies, and as a Senior Scientist, leading ophthalmology-related discovery projects. Prior experience includes a postdoctoral fellowship at Karolinska Institutet exploring oligonucleotides for splicing deficiencies and a research role at the University of Helsinki studying alternative splicing regulation. Janne Turunen earned a PhD in Biochemistry from the University of Helsinki in 2012, following an MSc in the same field. Early experience includes technical work at the Finnish Red Cross Blood Service.
