Green Cities Industry Liaison at Prosper Portland

Katherine Krajnak is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in urban planning and entrepreneurship. Currently serving as the Green Cities Industry Liaison and Entrepreneurship Program Manager at Prosper Portland since July 2013, Katherine has spearheaded initiatives promoting women and minority founders, including a city-sponsored incubator and the Startup PDX Challenge, and launched a $3 million early seed fund for underrepresented entrepreneurs. Prior to this role, Katherine worked as a Senior Project Manager at PDC (now Prosper Portland) from July 2009 to July 2013, managing significant district projects and real estate dispositions. Starting their career as an English Language Teacher at the Berlin School of English, Katherine holds a Master's degree in Urban and Regional Planning from Portland State University and a Bachelor's degree in Physics from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.

Prosper Portland is an economic and urban development agency that focus on building an equitable economy by carrying out a comprehensive range of economic development programs that support small business, improve access to workforce training, and create jobs for Portland residents. They work with partners to drive public attention and resources todifferent areas of the city, which helps Portland realize capital projects – parks, streetscape improvements, community centers –that would not happen on their own, making it a better place to live for all Portlanders.Prosper Portland is headed by an executive director who reports to a five-member, volunteer board of local citizens appointed by the mayor and approved by City Council. The structure allows them to exercise independence in program implementation and resource allocation.
