Sougata Roy

Sougata Roy is an experienced actuary with a diverse background in the financial industry. Sougata is currently the Vice President and Head of Actuarial Asset Liability Management at Prosperity Life. Prior to this, they worked at PolySystems, Inc. as an Advanced Actuarial Modeler. Sougata also held the position of Senior Director and Actuary at Equitable from 2018 to 2022. Sougata has extensive risk oversight experience, having served as the Director of Risk Oversight at Jackson from 2015 to 2018 and as the Director of Enterprise Risk Hedging at The Hartford from 2012 to 2015. Sougata started their career as a Quantitative Analyst and Investment Analyst at Lincoln Financial Group from 2010 to 2012. Sougata has also worked as an Actuarial Associate at Old Mutual Financial Network from 2007 to 2010 and as a Consultant in the Banking and Financial domain at Cognizant Technology Solutions from 2005 to 2007. Sougata began their career as a Systems Engineer at TCS from 2001 to 2003.

Sougata Roy, FSA, CFA, obtained their Bachelor of Engineering degree in E&TC from IIEST, Shibpur in 2001. Sougata later pursued a Post Graduate Diploma in Business Administration and Management from the Indian Institute of Management, Indore during the period of 2003 to 2005. Sougata went on to expand their knowledge in the field of Actuarial Science by earning the Fellow of Society of Actuaries, USA from the Society of Actuaries between 2007 and 2012. Simultaneously, they also studied Finance, General and achieved the Chartered Financial Analyst designation from the CFA Institute between 2008 and 2012. Recently, Sougata completed their Masters in Applied Statistics from Penn State World Campus, which was earned from 2019 to 2021. Additionally, they obtained certifications as an FSA from the Society of Actuaries in 2012 and as a CFA from the CFA Institute, although the specific dates are not known.
