Alexander Levitzki

Scientific Advisor at Protalix BioTherapeutics

Professor Levitzki is the Wolfson Family Professor of Biochemistry in the Department of Biological Chemistry of The Alexander Silberman Institute of Life Sciences at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. He has authored or co-authored numerous professional papers and reviews and holds a number of patents. He is the recipient of many awards and honors, including the American Association for Cancer Research 2013 Award for Outstanding Achievement in Chemistry in Cancer Research; the 1990 Israel Prize in Biochemistry; the 1990 Rothschild Prize in Biology; the 2002 Hamilton-Fairley Award, European Society of Medical Oncology; the 2005 Wolf Prize for Medicine; and the 2012 Nauta Award in Pharmacochemistry, The European Federation of Medicinal Chemistry (EFMC) (the highest award from the European Federation for Medicinal Chemistry). Professor Levitzki received an MSc in Chemistry and Bacteriology (Biochemistry Major) Summa cum Laude, from The Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Israel, and his Ph.D. in Chemistry (Biochemistry and Biophysics) Summa cum Laude, from The Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Israel, and The Weizmann Institute of Science, Rehovot, Israel. He was a Post-doctoral Fellow at the Department of Biochemistry, University of California at Berkeley, Berkeley, California.
