Protect Our Winters
Ryan Laemel currently serves as Chief Operating Officer at Protect Our Winters, beginning in July 2024. Prior to this role, Ryan was a Principal at Third Derivative from July 2023 to July 2024, where leadership focused on initiatives supporting startups in decarbonizing hard-to-abate sectors. From November 2016 to July 2024, Ryan worked as a Principal at RMI, a nonprofit organization dedicated to market-based solutions for the energy transition, where responsibilities included cofounding an India program and managing various strategic initiatives. Earlier experience at Yale University spanned from July 2014 to November 2016, culminating in the role of Project Manager for Carbon Pricing, during which Ryan developed the university's first internal carbon pricing program. Ryan holds a B.S. in Geology & Geophysics (Environmental & Energy Geoscience) from Yale University, earned between 2010 and 2014.

Protect Our Winters
Protect Our Winters is the environmental center point of the winter sports community. Founded by pro snowboarder Jeremy Jones in 2007, we are united towards a common goal of reducing climate change's effects on our sport and local mountain communities. With over 140,000 supporters worldwide, POW re-invests public and private contributions into educational initiatives, advocacy and supporting community-based initiatives that have tangible results.
