David English has a comprehensive background in risk management and reinsurance. David is currently serving as the Vice President of Enterprise Risk & Reinsurance at Protective Insurance, a position they have held since January 2021. Prior to this role, David worked their way up in the company, starting as the Director of Enterprise Risk & Reinsurance in July 2017 and then becoming the Assistant Vice President in September 2019.
Before joining Protective Insurance, David worked as the Risk Manager at Durham County Government from November 2014 to July 2017. David also gained valuable experience as a Risk Management Specialist at the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority from May 2010 to November 2014.
In addition to their risk management roles, David has legal experience. David served as a Law Clerk in the Civil Litigation Division of the Office of the Attorney General for the District of Columbia from January 2009 to May 2010. David also held a Law Clerk position at the National Federation of Independent Business in 2009, specifically working in the Small Business Legal Center.
David's early career included a summer internship at the Charles Koch Foundation in 2009.
David English attended George Mason University from 2004 to 2008, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics. David then went on to study at The Catholic University of America, Columbus School of Law from 2008 to 2011, earning a Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree. In 2012, they attended Boston University and completed a program in Risk Management & Business Continuity. Additionally, David obtained certifications in Construction Risk Insurance Specialist (CRIS) from the International Risk Management Institute, Inc. in April 2014, and Associate in Risk Management (ARM) from the American Society for Chartered Property Casualty Underwriters in March 2013.
