Stylianos Markogiannakis has a diverse and extensive work experience in various roles and industries. Stylianos started their career as an IT Manager at Brigham and Women's Hospital, where they were responsible for creating IT systems and applications for the anesthesia department. Stylianos then worked as an IT Consultant at the Greek Ministry of Press and Information, where they evaluated and managed the development cycle of major projects.
Stylianos then joined IBM Hellas as a Technical Instructor, where they taught AIX and network security principles. Stylianos further expanded their expertise in the energy sector as the Lead Architect and Developer at the Centre for Renewable Energy Sources and Saving (CRES), leading the development of the Greek National Information System for Energy (GNISE) and establishing security policies.
Stylianos later became the Head of Unit (CIO Equivalent) at the Regulatory Authority for Energy in Greece (GRAE), where they built and scaled GRAE's entire IT infrastructure and regulated the energy sector. Stylianos gained further experience as a Research Associate at Contract Research, collaborating with research institutes and conducting independent studies in IT technologies, energy, and security compliance.
Their most recent position was at Protera, where they served as a Senior Engineer/Architect and Security Team lead. In this role, they led the InfoSec group and implemented security policies and procedures. Stylianos was also a senior member of the architecture team responsible for the architecture and roll-out of customer landscapes with a focus on systems security and hardening.
Stylianos Markogiannakis has a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics from the University of Crete, which they obtained from 1983 to 1988. Stylianos then pursued a Master of Science degree in Computer Engineering from Boston University from 1988 to 1990. Following that, Stylianos completed their Bachelor of Electrical Engineering from Northeastern University between 1990 and 1997. Recently, from 2010 to 2012, they attended Athens University of Economics and Business and obtained a Master's degree in Public Policy and Administration.
