Deepak Malik

Mr. Malik is a Managing Director for Proterra Investment Partners where he directs Proterra’s food production, value-added processing, and distribution investments in India, Southeast Asia & Australia.

Prior to Proterra, Mr. Malik served as a Managing Director for Black River Asset Management, a division of Cargill, where he focused on food sector investments. Prior to Black River, Mr. Malik was a co-founder and Managing Director of Cargill Ventures, a proprietary venture fund with $200 million in capital deployed across a 40-company portfolio. Prior to Cargill Ventures, Mr. Malik worked in strategy and business development for Cargill, focusing on corporate development/M&A within the petroleum, natural gas, coffee, grain and oilseeds, and meat industries, preceded by experience in international sales for Cargill’s fertilizer division. Previously, Mr. Malik worked with the JMA Group managing distribution operations, principally motor parts and accessories for Telco (Tata Group) heavy vehicles.

Mr. Malik holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Delhi University, a Master of Arts in Economics from the Delhi School of Economics and a Master of Business Administration from Cornell University. He speaks English, Hindi and Punjabi.
