Sam Byrd

Mr. Byrd is a Managing Director for Proterra Investment Partners where he helps direct Proterra’s investments in the metals and mining sector.

Prior to Proterra, Mr. Byrd served as a Managing Director for Black River Asset Management, a division of Cargill, focusing on private equity transactions in the metals and mining sector. Prior to Black River, Mr. Byrd worked within Deutsche Bank’s natural resources group and Standard Bank’s metals and mining corporate finance team. Mr. Byrd also has operating experience as an engineer within the Canadian mining industry. He has direct experience in copper, gold and nickel mining and refining operations having previously worked for Teck Cominco and Northgate Minerals.

Mr. Byrd has a B.Sc in Engineering from Queen’s University and an MBA from Oxford University. He is a licensed Professional Engineer in British Columbia.
